IAOM trained orofacial myologist (graduate of ORPP and Myomentor)

Myfunctional therapy is a discipline that is quickly gaining validity and momentum, as a result of the mounting research connecting improper oral facial function (ie. mouth breathing) to broader health issues. For example, mouth breathing in children has been shown to contribute to difficulties sleeping and symptoms of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Mouth breathing in adults has been connected to sleep apnea. Therefore, the goal of myofunctional therapy is to restore normal function, which includes:

  1. nose breathing
  2. closed lips (correct lip seal)
  3. proper tongue positioning
  4. proper swallowing
